Quaker, Tropicana, Gatorade (QTG), a division of PepsiCo, supports philanthropic interests by: (1) supporting employees' philanthropic and volunteer efforts through various employee programs; and (2) providing a limited number of direct grants to selected programs in communities where the Company has a facility.

We have developed guidelines to help us select which organizations from the thousands of requests we receive each year:

The Company focuses its giving on a key need in our community: the education of children in low-income communities, concentrating on programs that encourage them to stay in school. Accordingly, programs that provide tutoring, mentoring and coaching are funding priorities. Our intent is to direct the majority of grants to the direct or indirect support of public school systems and programs in the communities where the Company has a facility.

While we recognize there are many worthwhile organizations and causes to support, we hope to provide meaningful support and involvement in this critical focus area, rather than spread limited resources across a variety of funding opportunities. In short, we want to make a difference in the lives of children in low-income communities who need additional educational support to be successful in school.

Because the Company is a leading manufacturer and marketer of good-for-you foods and beverages, we also focus on hunger and nutrition. The majority of support in this focus area is directed to America's Second Harvest and its network of food banks across the country. Limited direct grants are also available in the specific area of nutrition education and physical fitness for children. As with the education grants, these grants are targeted to communities where the Company has a facility.

Chicago area - “by invitation” grant-making process
In the Chicago area, Quaker partners with key Chicago Public Schools and communities:

  • Jenner Academy in the Cabrini-Green community
  • Libby Elementary School in the Englewood - New City community
  • Wells High School in the West Town community

This includes direct funding for selected school programs as well as funding for community-based organizations whose primary focus is on improving and supporting the performance of these schools and the public school system.

Other Quaker, Tropicana and Gatorade locations
For organizations located outside the Chicago area in communities where Quaker, Tropicana or Gatorade has a facility, grant requests should be submitted to the Human Resources Department at the local facility. The grant request will be reviewed by the local plant management. Primary emphasis will be given to organizations whose mission is: (1) education of children in low-income communities, focusing on programs that encourage them to be successful in school; or (2) hunger and nutrition.
