Marketing Associate - We seek mature, motivated undergraduates with a record of scholarship, leadership and accomplishment to join Quaker’s brand management team. This assignment provides actual on-the-job brand management experience with exposure to sales, operations, marketing research and finance. You will be expected to add value throughout the organization, by contributing ideas, fine tuning your ability to communicate effectively, and acting as an agent for change. Your fresh vision can be of particular value to Quaker.

Marketing Assistant - We seek MBAs with the ability to think strategically and work effectively as a team to join Quaker’s brand management team. This position can lead to broader levels of responsibility in Quaker’s marketing organization. Exposure to all areas of the organization that impact the marketing function will strengthen your skills and reinforce your ability to help us meet our growth objectives. You will be called on to utilize your teamwork and leadership skills along with your creativity and analytical thinking as you take on projects in your first assignment.

Assistant Brand Manager - Proven performance as a Marketing Associate or Marketing Assistant will prepare creative problem solvers for the broader responsibilities of an Assistant Brand Manager. Leadership and initiative will be key as you intensify your efforts and champion your brand.

Brand Manager - More in-depth experience and exposure to Quaker’s winning marketing system as well as an ability to demonstrate innovation and passion can open the door to full Brand Management responsibility - a key role in establishing financial and sales objectives and developing and implementing innovative marketing strategies. You will lead the development and implementation of innovative marketing strategies for projects including new product introductions, brand advertising campaigns, integrated consumer promotions, and target specific programming.


Team players confident with the ability to take the initiative and to champion new ideas and generate change will thrive on challenges. You’ll weigh project priorities based on profit potential and make decisions based on a vast array of consumer and financial information. You’ll become an effective business and marketing expert with a direct link to senior management.

9:00 Attend the weekly meeting with our advertising agency. Today we are reviewing rough cuts of new commercials for the Mom’s campaign - How can we strengthen our branding? The creatives from the agency suggest we make the Instant Quaker Oatmeal box in color to contrast the black and white film of the storyline. Discuss, Discuss, Discuss with the agency and Quaker Team - Approved! Smooth sailing so far…
10:30 Meet with Packaging and Promotions manager to review the layouts for an upcoming FSI coupon (Free Standing Insert). It looks great and we’re sure that it will break through the other competitive information in the Sunday paper.

Lunch with the other Marketing Assistants; today we are having one of our roundtable lunches where a division president is invited to speak to the group. Polly Kawalek is speaking - I can’t wait to hear her hilarious stories about working her way up through Pet Foods, Fisher Price and the other divisions of Quaker in the past!
1:00 Work on evaluating the effectiveness of a trial pack that we tested in-market last year. Meet with the Finance team to gather cost estimates on the initiative. Also spend time investigating Nielsen performance of the trial pack. Begin to prepare a payback analysis.
2:00 Meet with the New Products team to discuss next steps on the launch of a new flavor of Instant Oatmeal for next year. Discuss results of a recent consumer test and potential manufacturing issues that could result from launching this flavor.
3:00 Check voicemail and e-mail and respond to vendors wanting to tell me about their services. Directors have asked for a summary of last season’s media spending against next season’s proposed media spending.
3:45 Quick Starbucks run for afternoon pick-me-up… Wave "hi" to my manager… Guess she’s having a busy day too!
4:00 Have a conference call with the public relations firm to discuss an upcoming press release. Review the press release and suggest a few tweaks to the wording.
4:30 Meet with the Legal department to review new packaging layouts and get the diabetes Web site section approved.
5:00 Work on payback analysis for trial pack, check e-mail and voicemail one last time and make my to-do list for tomorrow… Today was a packed day, better block two hours on my calendar tomorrow to get my analyses done!
6:00 Head over to the fitness center for a run on the treadmill. Grab some FREE Gatorade from the cooler and head for home. Lots of free stuff… I love this place!
