Rated 3 out of 5 by from Grits Good - Container Not I use this 5-minute grits as part of my daily diet. The grits are tasty and smooth. However, I wish you would fix the lid on the round 24 oz containers. Twice I have had the lid come off in my hand when picking the container up, spilling a large quantity of its contents. The lid does not seal tightly and comes off way too easily.

Stove Top Preparation

To Make 1 Serving:

  • 1/4 Cup Oats
  • 1 Cup Water or Milk
  • Dash of salt (optiona)

To Make 4 Servings:

  • 1 Cup Grits
  • 4 Cups Water
  • 1/4 Tsp Salt (optional)

To Make 6 Servings:

  • 1-1/2 Cups Grits
  • 6 Cups Water
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt (optional)

Directions:

  1. Slowly stir grits and salt into briskly boiling water.
  2. Reduce heat to medium-low; cover. Cook 5 to 7 minutes or until thickened, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.

Microwave Preparation (1 Serving)

  • 1/4 Cup Oats
  • 1 Cup Water or Milk
  • Dash of salt (optional)

Directions:

  1. Combine water, grits and salt in 2 cup microwave-safe bowl; stir.
  2. Microwave on HIGH 3 to 4 minutes or until thickened when stirred.

Microwave ovens vary in power, cooking times may need to be adjusted.

TIP:For thicker grits decrease water; for thinner grits increase water.
Serve with any of the following: margarine, butter, cheese, red-eye gravy or as a hot cereal with milk and sugar.
