A heart healthy diet should include whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, low fat dairy, lean protein and legumes, and should limit fat, saturated fat and cholesterol and sodium.

Cooking Instructions

Stir together first five ingredients (oats, carrots, cinnamon, dates and almonds). Add water, one tablespoon at a time, as needed for shaping consistency. Form the dough into 24 heaping tablespoon-sized balls. Roll lightly in coconut flakes. Refrigerate at least an hour before eating. Store leftovers in refrigerator, covered. Makes 24 bites.

The end result was that I took the dough (?) and put it in my food processor and then.......it was completely easy to form into balls. I think using a food processor is the best way to make these. The ingredients need to be finely chopped so everything blends well.

I made it work by adding agave nectar and letting stand in fridge for an hour before rolling. They tasted ok, but not worth the hassle of trying to make them stick.
