Quaker Weight Control Instant Oatmeal - Maple and Brown Sugar is rated 3.8125 out of 5 by 80.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from It's just too sweet! I always use water to cook my instant oatmeal to avoid extra sugar in my diet. I did the same preparing this Weight Control version and to my surprise I just couldn't get past the extreme sweetness , it was too much and the weird flavor wasn't even pure sugar which I could handle . I go straight to the nutritional label and come to find SUCRALOSE which is basically fake sugar or worse Splenda! My body cannot tolerate anything like Splenda, that is the devil for me and the taste was just yuck. I will stick to my natural oatmeal. I never would've thought I had to check the labels for this in their products....Thanks but no thanks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Includes sugar substitutes I looked all over this packaging for anything stating this product included a sugar substitute. Unfortunately, I don't know all the names for these products and missed it in the long ingredient list. After eating one package, I knew something beyond sugar was in this - I should have known since it only has 1g of sugar. The aftertaste of these 'fake' sugars is easily recognizable and this definitely has it. Please be more up-front with the consumers so we can make better choices for ourselves. Now I have a $3 box of oatmeal that will go in the trash. A good reminder to me that it's always best to go with my gut - buy plain oatmeal and make it how you like it by adding the ingredients you like.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sinfully good! I've been on a diet for several months now, and have had a difficult time finding food that doesn't have that fake-sugar aftertaste. This product not only smelled wonderful when I was cooking it, but it delivered from the first bite to the last. In the regular style of oatmeal, the brown sugar flavor is very dominant, but on this version the maple comes out very well. I feel like I'm cheating on my diet by eating this, but I've lost 59 lbs so far and this will definitely be a regular in my schedule.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't Understand the Negative Reviews! First off, I'd like to say I'm not a positive-review bot or paid spokesperson, or anything like that, I'm a real person living in New York who just stumbled across this site. Anyway - I LOVE this stuff! It's the perfect breakfast for someone trying to lose weight - low in sugar, lots of protein and fiber. Yes it's got some artificial sweetener, but this isn't sweet & low with aspartame or anything, it's more like splenda which does NOT contain aspartame. I personally experienced no weird after-taste like people said, and love chopping things like strawberries or bananas into it (Bananas into the banana bread flavor is heavenly!) In fact my boyfriend has taken to eating it and now it's hard to keep in the house! I just ate this morning and will probably eat it tomorrow! Please, don't stop making it!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too strong of Protein Powder Flavor My store ran out of the Lower Sugar Maple & Brown Sugar Oatmeal that I just love, so I decided to try the Weight Control Maple & Brown Sugar. First thing I noticed when I opened the packets is that a bunch of creamy-white powder was in there (the protein powder I imagine) and I hardly saw any darker colored powder, i.e. the brown sugar or maple flavoring. The protein flavor to me is just yucky. I even started putting a bunch of cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg in there to try and cover up that protein flavor, but it didn't work. It's a great idea, a great way to add protein to your diet in the morning, but... I'll stick with my Lower Sugar Maple & Brown Sugar Oatmeal instead!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Put additives in a separate packet I agree with other reviewers, and find that all the instant oatmeal flavors are either too sweet, too fake, or leave a weird aftertaste. However, I don't like plain oatmeal either. My suggestion, is to offer the instant oatmeal the way the boxed rice companies do: put the grain in the box, and put all the flavorings and added powders in a separate little packet. Then the consumer can decide to use some or all of the packet. If I had this option, I would buy much more instant oatmeal, and use only half the packets, to lightly flavor and sweeten, and add just a little protein and fiber.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Benefits aren't worth it! Was so excited to find this on shelf at the store, smells amazing when cooking, then you take that first bite and realize it just isn't worth the carbs and calories you are trying to save to eat something that has that fake sugar wang to it that sticks around and you taste it all morning. I would rather eat the original and know I am getting a great taste. This is one of those that I will be giving away.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It is different When I poured it on my bowl, I knew there was different type of smell that I couldn't quite grasp. I decided to purchase this because it was for "weight loss" so I figured why not try it. I added grapefruit to it which I always do so I think that made it better. I agree with the other comments, there was an after-taste but it wasn't that bad that I couldn't handle. The sugar intake I didn't really pay too much attention to, just for the simple fact as far as Weight Watchers, they are the same points as far as the regular oatmeal.
