After looking forward to this hot cereal as a regular staple several times a week for over 20 years, I was dismayed to see that our Safeway grocery story (in Redwood City, California) had a "close-out" sign on the shelf by the Quaker Oat Bran cereal. Needless to say, I bought every box on the shelf. I'm here to say loud and clear that I hope Quaker is NOT discontinuing this product! What a BAD move that would be! Safeway does so at its peril!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am missing my morning favorite. I have enjoyed eating Quaker Hot Oat Bran every morning for as long as I can remember. To my disappointment, I can no longer purchase it in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, PA area. Has the Quaker Oats Company decided to discontinue this product? I certainly hope not as this is the creamiest and best tasting hot cereal on the market.

I now have two boxes left and cannot find it at any grocery store. I called Quaker Oaks and they said it was being sold in Greenville NC at Food Lion. I went there and the manager said it had been discontinued. I really do need to find it!

I also use it raw in the salad with olive oil, salt and vinegar, it's fantastic. Many kind of food or recipe I cook I use Oat Bran or Oat Flour. The best source of fiber with great nutrients.

Microwave & Stove Top Amounts

To Make 1 Serving:

  • 1-1/4 Cups Water
  • 1/2 Cup Oat Bran
  • Dash of salt (optional)

To Make 2 Servings:

  • 2-1/2 Cups Water
  • 1 Cup Oat Bran
  • Dash of salt (optional)

To Make 3 Servings:

  • 3-3/4 Cups Water
  • 1-1/2 Cups Oat Bran
  • 1/8 Tsp. Salt (optional)

Microwave Directions

  1. Combine water, oat bran and salt in medium (1-1/2 qt.) microwaveable bowl.
  2. Microwave on HIGH
    - 1 serving: 2-1/2 to 3 minutes
    - 2 servings: 4-1/2 to 5-1/2 minutes or until thickened, stirring halfway through cooking.
  3. Stir before serving.

Microwave ovens vary in power; cooking times may need adjustment

Stove Top Directions

  1. Combine water, oat bran and salt.
  2. Bring to a boil.
  3. Cook about 1 minut eover medium heat, stirring occasionally.
